What is this tool and what does it do?

Remove Audio is a free browser tool that removes the audio track from a video and exports a silent copy. The processing happens locally in your browser (WebAssembly), so your file stays on your device. Results are usually ready in seconds, depending on your device and video length.

Is this audio remover really free to use?

Yes, it’s free to use and doesn’t require an account. We don’t add watermarks. If you hit limits, they’re typically related to browser memory or very large video files, not a daily quota.

How do I remove audio from a video using this tool?

Need a walkthrough? See our step-by-step guide at remove-audio.com/how-to-remove-audio. In short: 1) Add your video (MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, etc.). 2) Local processing usually finishes in seconds, depending on your device and video length. 3) Preview the silent video. 4) Download the muted file.

Are there any limits on video size or number of uses?

There’s no daily quota. Practical limits come from browser memory and device performance, so very large files can take longer or fail. If that happens, try trimming or splitting the clip.

Will the video quality be affected when removing audio?

No. We remove only the audio track while leaving the video stream untouched, so you keep the original visual quality.

Do I need to install any software or plugin?

No installation needed. The audio remover runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Just visit the site, choose your video, and remove the audio on desktop or mobile.

Is it safe to process my videos? Will my files be stored?

Your video is processed locally in your browser and is not sent to our servers. We may collect basic analytics (like device and page usage) to keep the site stable. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Can I process multiple videos at once?

Yes. You can add and process up to 20 videos simultaneously. Each video is processed independently, and you can download them individually or all together as a ZIP file.

Does it work on mobile devices?

Absolutely. Our free audio removal tool works on mobile browsers just as it does on desktop. Open your mobile browser, go to the site, and choose a video from your gallery. Processing happens locally.

What video formats are supported?

We support major formats including MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, and more. The tool detects the format automatically, and the output typically matches your input for compatibility.

Can I use the edited videos commercially?

You keep ownership of your original content. Removing audio does not grant rights to copyrighted material. If a clip includes third party audio or video, you still need the appropriate permissions.

Why would I want to remove audio from a video?

There are many reasons: create silent autoplay videos for social, remove copyrighted music, eliminate background noise, prepare clips for voiceovers, make GIF-like content, meet platform rules, or when you only need visuals.
Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting common issues

Quick fixes for the most common hiccups.

Video stuck at processing

Large files can take longer. Keep the tab open and avoid switching apps. If it stays stuck, try a shorter clip or refresh and add the file again.

Unsupported codec errors

Some files use uncommon codecs. Try exporting to MP4 (H.264) or reach out so we can help.

iPhone Safari download location

Downloads go to the Files app. Check Downloads or On My iPhone in the Files app.

Very large files and memory limits

Browser memory is limited. If a huge file fails, trim the clip or split it into smaller parts.
